Armed with my old Ultra 600 Polaroid camera and piles of expiring instant film, I set out to capture memories, people, and anything else that my camera and I happen across.

POTD: sir penguin, amplified
I almost forgot to take a photo today. Good thing my little penguin is so photogenic.
How adorable--penguins are too cute. I really enjoy your blog + polaroid gallery! Thanks for commenting on mine--the key to successful thrifting is to sift, sift, sift through everything!
Petrea - I definitely agree with the Polaroid's nostalgic appeal. I think that's one of the reasons I love them so much. Even though they aren't the sharpest, clearest, and most accurate depictions of what's in front of the lens, what you get is kind of delightfully imperfect. :)
I'm not a "professional" artist by any means, just someone who loves the novelty and tangible loveliness of instant film. I acquired my (very basic) camera from eBay over 3 years ago. In 2008, instant film officially became an endangered species when Polaroid announced it would discontinue the product. I have a store of film left, all set to expire by the end of summer. My mission is to photograph everything worth photographing. And everything that's not.

amy - Thanks! I suppose my biggest problem when it comes to thrifting is my lack of patience. XD
I think these polaroid pics have an ethereal quality. They're sort of nostalgic. I'd think they were from the 70's if I didn't know better.
